Kim Trent is the executive director of Knox Heritage, the non-profit historic preservation organization for Knoxville and Knox County, Tennessee. She brings a diverse background to her current role, including experience in journalism, community organizing, community development banking, public relations and non-profit management. She has worked in preservation professionally and as a community volunteer and advocate at the local, state and national level for more than 16 years and is a proponent of preservation-based community and economic development. She is a native of Mobile, Alabama, a graduate of the University of Alabama and has two children, Spencer and Kate.

Knox Heritage is the non-profit preservation advocacy organization for Knoxville and Knox County, Tennessee and provides preservation field services the 16-county Knoxville region. Knox Heritage  is dedicated to preserving the community’s architecturally or historically significant places. Founded in 1974, the organization provides information on the economic and community development benefits of preservation; homeownership opportunities in targeted low-to-moderate income historic neighborhoods through the acquisition and renovation of blighted properties; advocacy for policies and programs that utilize historic preservation as a tool for community revitalization; educational opportunities for the public to learn about the history of our community and how architecture tells the story of our community; and provides events and programs to support its mission.
